From New Beginnings to MoDerm: Marta’s Journey in Canada and Medical Aesthetics

Fifteen years ago, I arrived in Canada with nothing but a dream - and believe it or not, no English. It was a bold leap into the unknown, but from the moment I set foot in this country, I was amazed by its opportunities, its people, and the sense of possibility that surrounded me. Today, I am proud to call Canada my home, and even prouder to have built a space where I can help others feel confident and beautiful in their own skin - MoDerm Laser & Aesthetics.

The Beginning: A Passion Discovered

My journey into medical aesthetics began in 2013 when I was offered a position as a medical receptionist at a busy medical spa run by an experienced dermatologist. At the time, I had little knowledge of the industry, but I quickly became fascinated by the world of skin health and transformation. I saw firsthand how medical aesthetics could address concerns beyond just beauty—it could boost confidence, restore glow, and bring out the best in people.

Determined to learn more, I took a leap: I went back to school while continuing my training on the job. Becoming a medical aesthetician was a turning point. It wasn’t just about skincare—it was about making a real difference in people’s lives. Seeing my clients’ skin transform from dry, oily, or dull—common challenges in Calgary’s harsh climate—to radiant, hydrated, and healthy was incredibly rewarding.

MoDerm: A Dream Born from Motherhood

After working alongside a dermatologist for 10 years, I knew I was ready for the next step - to create a space that reflected my vision, values, and passion for natural beauty. When my second daughter was born, I realized it was the perfect time to take that leap. That’s when MoDerm Laser & Aesthetics was born—a place where I could help people feel confident in their skin while creating a future for my family. Balancing motherhood and business ownership wasn’t easy, but it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

MoDerm is more than just a clinic - it’s a place where I meet amazing clients, listen to their concerns, and help them enhance their natural beauty in a way that feels right for them. I believe that medical aesthetics should never be about changing who you are - it should be about bringing out the best version of yourself. Whether it’s a Hydrafacial for glowing skin, laser treatments for smooth confidence, or personalized skincare advice, my goal is always the same: natural results, self-care, and lasting confidence.

A Passion for Helping Moms

Beyond my career, I am also a busy mom of two wonderful little girls. They are my biggest motivation, my daily inspiration, and the reason I work so hard. Being a mom has also shaped my passion for working with other moms - helping them navigate the challenges of skincare while balancing busy lives. Many moms neglect their own self-care while caring for their families, and I love educating them about how a simple, effective skincare routine can make all the difference.

My journey from a newcomer with no English to an entrepreneur in the medical aesthetics industry has been filled with challenges, growth, and incredible experiences. MoDerm is a reflection of everything I have learned along the way—a place of care, expertise, and real results. I am beyond grateful for every client who has trusted me with their skin, and I look forward to continuing this journey, growing, and helping more people feel their most confident selves.
